Principal’s Address – May 2025

Ms. C. Venter, Acting Principal

What an incredible first five months of 2025 it has been at RHS!

As we find ourselves almost halfway through the academic year, I am filled with gratitude and pride when I reflect on all that we have achieved together as a school community.

We’ve had the honour of welcoming several distinguished guests from various educational entities. A highlight was certainly the visit from the Director General of Education. It was an exceptional moment for us, as the DG expressed genuine admiration for our learners – especially the unwavering commitment and maturity displayed by our Grade 12 learners. We were also privileged to host representatives from Head Office and our District, and each of these visits reaffirmed that RHS is on a path of excellence.

On 6 March, we celebrated a momentous occasion – the Grade 12 Pledge Signing Ceremony. It was a truly inspirational event, where our Gr 12’s was recognised and encouraged to remain steadfast in their journey towards academic and personal success.

Our sports teams have represented RHS with passion and pride on both local and coastal tours. Their sportsmanship, discipline, and spirit have truly carried the RHS flag high. Well done to all involved – learners and coaches alike!

Behind every success is a dedicated team, and I want to sincerely thank our remarkable staff. They have sacrificed countless personal hours to educate, guide and support our learners. Their dedication is the backbone of our achievements.

I am also deeply encouraged by the positive shift we are seeing within our school environment. We are steadily rebuilding that warm, united family vibe that RHS is known for. Events such as the Night of the Stars showcased the incredible talent we have – every child had the opportunity to shine, and they did so beautifully.

A special thank you must go to our parents. Your support has been invaluable. Your willingness to work with us and resolve matters constructively at school level is making a noticeable difference. Together, we are stronger.

I must also commend most of our learners. Their behaviour, dedication, and willingness to cooperate with the school rather than against it is remarkable. With nearly 1900 learners, we are experiencing impressively low levels of late coming daily – something few schools of our size can claim.

To all who make RHS what it is – learners, staff, parents, and our wider community – thank you. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

As I always say: I am a #blessedAP.

Warm regards,

Ms C. Venter
